Most of what shapes a career happens off the resume. The unwritten rules. The hard conversations. The frameworks you only learn the slow way. I write to demystify that part of the work, especially for people who don't have a mentor to walk them through it.
By day, I invest in real estate and teach others how to do the same. I'm Senior Vice President and Co-Portfolio Manager at Artemis, focused on our Emerging Manager Platform. I'm also Head of Real Estate at Wall Street Prep and co-direct the Wharton Online × Wall Street Prep Real Estate Certificate. Before all of that: Morgan Stanley, JBG Smith, a family office in the Pacific Northwest, an MBA from Harvard, and a BS from Cornell.
That's the resume. It's not the reason this newsletter exists.
Nights & Wknds started where most of my real conversations have always happened. Late-night texts from people deciding between offers. Midweek check-ins from mentees needing a sounding board. Weekend calls that ran an hour long. The same questions, different people, almost every week. At some point I started writing the answers down.
This newsletter is that writing. Honest reflections. Practical frameworks. Hard-won lessons and the ones I'm still learning. Mentor-to-peer, written by someone still in it. If you're trying to build a life, not just a career, this is for you.
Outside of work, I serve on SEO's National Leadership Council and the board of the Release Recovery Foundation. I'm a soon-to-be husband, dog Dad to Berg, and a team-agnostic NFL football fan.
